Warmest January

A new year and a new list of temperature records. According to NASA, last month was the warmest January since records began. It beat the 2007 record for January by 0.5 degrees Celsius. January was the ninth consecutive monthly record.


Update (March 14):  And now the warmest February. With the largest temperature anomaly since . . . January. Also, the contiguous United States went through the warmest winter since records began 122 years ago.


Update (April 15):  And now the warmest March. For the eleventh month in a row.

Update (May 16):  And now the warmest April. Twelve record months according to NOAA.

Update (June 23):  And now the warmest May. This makes 370 consecutive months at or above average temperature.

Update (July 9):  And now the warmest June.

Update (July 20):  NASA confirms the warmest June. Fourteen record months.

Update (August 15):  And now the warmest July. According to NASA, last month was 0.11 degrees Celsius warmer than last July making it the warmest month ever in the temperature record.

Update (August 17):  NOAA confirms the warmest month ever. July was at least 1.5 degrees Celsius above the 20th century average temperature.

Update (September 12):  And now the warmest August. NASA says August tied July for the warmest month ever in the temperature record.

Update (October 17):  And now the warmest September.

Update (October 22):  NOAA disagrees.

Update (November 15):  NASA says October was only the second warmest on record. Yeah, we always knew it was a hoax all along!
